Harald Schoen and I are organising a panel on "Gatekeepers, Networks
and Critical Masses in Political Science" for the ECPR General
Conference 2011. The deadline for submitting paper proposals is
*February 1, 2011*.
We aim at bringing together scholars who share an interest in the
empirical study of the social and political structures and mechanisms
that shape Political Science communities, broadly defined. Possible
topics include, but are not limited to the role of gatekeepers in
research funding, the mechanisms that govern the system of
peer-reviewed journals, values and norms scholars subscribe to, the
diffusion of new Political Science concepts, the (perceived)
reputation of departments, journals and scholars, and the emergence
and definition of "schools", approaches and research programs. While
we are particularly interested in papers that take a comparative
approach, case studies are welcome, too.

The e-NASS is essentially generalist to revive renaissance wo/men with global and historical perspectives covering from the mist-shrouded steppes of Asia to the sun-drenched African, American and European shores without neglecting the exotic Oceania. In order to protect its subscribers vis-�-vis the virus-spreading, hoax and spam e-mails, the e-NASS is strictly moderated while e-mails containing attachments are automatically removed. This e-network discourages commercial advertisements as well as it is essentially irrelevant to any form of activism or advocacy of any particular perspective. Thus, messages of discussions, demonstrations and calls to action are not permitted. When forwarding e-NASS announcements to your friends and other e-groups, signifying e-NASS as the source will be highly appreciated as extent of your courtesy.
