Dolphin Baby Calf
Update
February 2, 2011
CMA's latest dolphin stranding was on December 11, 2010
another baby calf with a strong will to fight. Six weeks later, she is still in guarded condition, but is showing remarkable progress. She has gained 11 lbs. since she arrived and has also grown in length by 11 cm. She came off quarantine this week when her lab results came back normal. She still remains under 24-hour observation and care by our marine mammal experts, because she is nursing on a bottle every three hours, consuming up to 3600ml/day of special formula. The CMA team continues to perform weekly diagnostic testing to ensure she remains on the road to recovery.
