Interdisciplinary Approaches to Understanding the Nature of Hate,
Crafting Models for Combating Hatred, and Implications for Practice

The Second International Conference on Hate Studies convenes leading
academics from multiple disciplines from around the world, as well as
law enforcement personnel, journalists, educators, representatives from
governmental and non-governmental organizations, human rights experts,
community organizers, activists, and others to discuss hatred from
multiple perspectives.
We will explore the Conference theme through four main areas:
education, research, practice, and advocacy.
The lessons learned and plans which emerge will help educators,
researchers, law enforcement, advocates, and others to better analyze,
prevent, and combat hatred in its various manifestations.
The Conference schedule includes keynote addresses, special sessions,
workshops, panels, and paper presentations from diverse theoretical and
disciplinary lenses. Our featured speakers include:
* Izzeldin Abuelaish - Michael and Amira Dan Professor in Global Health,
Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto and author of
I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor's Journey
* Farah Pandith - Special Representative to Muslim Communities, U.S.
Department of State
* Hannah Rosenthal - Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism,
U.S. Department of State
* Keith Aoki - Professor, University of California at Davis School of
Law
* Steven Bender - James & Ilene Hershner Professor and Director of
Portland Programs, University of Oregon School of Law
* Kenneth Stern - Specialist on Anti-Semitism and Extremism, American
Jewish Committee
Conference registration is available now. February 28, 2011 is the
priority registration deadline; all presenters and attendees must
register to participate. Lodging reservations at the conference site,
the Northern Quest Resort and Casino.

Consortium, Canadian Studies at Gonzaga University, the Gonzaga

The e-NASS, outnumbering 5300 subscribers, aims to deepen interaction for further inter/intra/trans/multi-disciplinary communication within the academic community of scholars, professionals and students from all branches of social sciences. The language of communication at e-NASS is English; however, contributions in other languages are highly welcomed should they include an abstract in English. This e-network enthusiastically encourages its members to disseminate and share announcements of Call for Papers, Fellowships/Scholarships, Conferences, Graduate Programs, Websites, Publications, Summer Schools, Jobs, Internships and etc. If you have any scholarly announcement concerning social sciences, please do not hesitate to share it within this e-community. The e-NASS is essentially generalist to revive renaissance wo/men with global and historical perspectives covering from the mist-shrouded steppes of Asia to the sun-drenched African, American and European shores without neglecting the exotic Oceania. In order to protect its subscribers vis-�-vis the virus-spreading, hoax and spam e-mails, the e-NASS is strictly moderated while e-mails containing attachments are automatically removed. This e-network discourages commercial advertisements as well as it is essentially irrelevant to any form of activism or advocacy of any particular perspective. Thus, messages of discussions, demonstrations and calls to action are not permitted. When forwarding e-NASS announcements to your friends and other e-groups, signifying e-NASS as the source will be highly appreciated as extent of your courtesy.
