Orphaned river otters learn to swim

TAMPA - Two 6-month-old river otter pups are getting swimming lessons at the Florida Aquarium.
Otters usually learn to swim from their mothers. But Allie and Mace were orphaned and came to the Aquarium in February.
Now they are learning from their human caregivers.
Each otter took tentative steps out toward the water, and dove in, enticed by treats.
The otters had been swimming before, but not in a tank the size they tried out Wednesday.
When the otters get comfortable in the tank, they will be allowed in every other day to play and be on display for Aquarium visitors.
