BRADENTON BEACH --
For the second time in just a few weeks, a wildlife group is caring for an injured eagle in Manatee County.
Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center Inc., which is based in Bradenton Beach, is caring for the young bald eagle.
Someone found the bird last week along U.S. 301 near 51st Avenue East in Bradenton. They called 911 for help.
The group's president, Ed Straight, said the eagle was hit by a car.
Fortunately, the eagle is expected to recover from its injuries.
"We've had it X-rayed and tested and there doesn't seem to be any broken bones, no wing injuries or anything," Straight said. "So we're quite hopeful it will be released back into the wild."
The eagle has a liver issue from the stress of the accident, but is expected to be okay.
The injured eagle is expected to be released back into the wild in about three weeks.
The rescue facility was also caring for another bald eagle with chest injuries. However, it did not make it.
