SOUTH TAMPA - A six-foot alligator gave some South Tampa residents a scare Tuesday, when it wandered out of a fenced-in area and got too close for comfort.

The gator was in a pond near Montgomery Terrace, but it somehow managed to wander away.

The residents called Florida Fish and Wildlife officials, and a trapper for there in time to take the gator away before anyone was injured.
