[MARINE_BIOLOGY_INTERNATIONAL] Another dead whale washes ashore near Long Beach

Long Beach, WA - The body of a 40-foot long gray whale washed ashore in Long Beach, Washington on Friday.

It is at least the third whale found near Long Beach this year. Marine biologists say that it is unusual to find more than one a year.

Dr. Debbie Duffield, the head of marine biology at Portland State University, brought a group of students to perform a necropsy to try and figure out how the animal died. Preliminary results indicated that the whale was very sick of cancer.
